An event dedicated to the 98th anniversary of Doctor of Philology, renowned linguist-Turkologist, poet, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, former MP, Professor Hasan Mirzayev was held.

The event was attended by the scientific staff of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, representatives of scientific and educational institutions, and members of the public.

The rector of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Professor Jafar Jafarov, the vice-rector for international relations, Professor Mahira Huseynova, the head of the scientific and organizational department, Professor Ibrahim Bayramov, the head of the Turkish languages ​​department of the Turkological Center, Professor Mirvari Ismayilova, the head of the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Professor Nadir Mammadli, and the head of the Terminology Department, Professor Sayali Sadiqova, emphasized in their speeches that Professor Hasan Mirzayev's invaluable services in the development of Azerbaijani linguistics, his valuable research in the field of studying and presenting the linguistic features, dialects, and folklore traditions of the Deralayaz district to science, his significant role in preserving the literary and cultural memory of that region, that this spiritual attachment is reflected in both his scientific activities and poetic creativity, and that the Deralayaz theme always occupies a special place in his works.

During the event, the head of the Department of Modern Azerbaijani Language, Professor Konul Samadova, presented a book titled “Areas of Western Azerbaijani Ethnotoponyms” dedicated to the memory of Professor Hasan Mirzayev. The book, published in 4 languages, provides a linguistic analysis of ethnotoponyms in the historical Azerbaijani lands, which are currently considered the territory of Armenia, and substantiates with scientific evidence that many ethnonyms that existed in these territories are related to the names of Turkic-speaking peoples.
